Cowgirls Challenge "Over the top with Bling"

Welcome to this weeks Cowgirls Challenge"Over the Top Bling" and New Image Release :D
Our sponsor for this week is Delicious Doodles

Sorry about the number of photo's in this post, but I was trying to show how sparkly it is in the sunshine(not done that brilliant a job though).
This week is New Release time at Cowgirls-Up Designs, and this image is called "Country Bumpkins".

I wasn't sure how I was going to make this image work with the" Bling" theme this week, but once I'd decided on a brag book everything else seemed to fall into place. I used a friends Tim Holtz di to cut the pages.
I used the colours of the brickwork dp for the image, added gold foil to some of the leaves, and clear stickles for others.
The soft pink sparkly flowers don't overpower the autumnal colours in the rest of the piece.Challenges I am entering are;

Ink it up Thank you!

This month at Lets Ink It Up, Suzanne has asked if we would like to take part in a swap (as well as the normal challenge). The aim is to make a set of 6 3inchx3inch "thank you" notecards + envelopes, to send to a fellow crafter.
I started with blank cream/yellow card cut to size. Overstamped with a selection of "thank you" text stamps from Anna Griffin. I then cut 2x2 mats from a piece of DCWV summer dreams matstack. The ornate flower is die cut with a Nellie Snellen circle frame centrepiece, stamped with the largest circular flower from the Crafty Individual set with the 2 sparrows on branches(can't find a name on pack?). A single pale blue bling to reflect the soft blue of the dp, and a "Many Thanks" sentiment to finish. I used Tim Holtz "Peeled Paint" green distressing ink pad for all stamping and edging.

Not very successful at making envelopes, and after numerous attempt to find 3x3's in craft shops I was reduced to buying a box of those mini christmas cards from a really cheap shop(69p for 40). So I used the plain envelopes, but jazzed them up a bit by stamping a matching image onto the front of the envelope, then embossing and lightly inking a co-ordinating flower onto the flap. Hope you can make it out on the photo'sIt's a nice touch to stamp something on the back of handmade cards too. I always stamp mine "with love as always" (personalised stamp from "The English Stamp Company") and a tiny Humble Bee(which was the 1st stamp I ever bought).
Enjoy :D XXX

..to be a Pilgrim!

Welcome to the Glitterbabes 18th challenge!!! Wow time sure is flying this year :D doesn't seem like 5minutes since Stef allowed me a place on her dt!! As it is an Anything Goes challenge this week I asked her if I could use these gorgeous little "pilgrims" for my card.

Now I know some people shy away from stamps n digi's because they don't think their colouring techniques are good enough, but fear not!! A lot of Stefs images include a pre-coloured format. I coloured my background paper(another of Stef's images "grapevine") with promarkers, but for the "Pilgrim Boy" and "Pilgrim Girl" I used the ready coloured versions(just faded them a little to age them). All the images are printed onto handmade paper, which I ragged the edges on the background to distress. The ink from the promarkers hardly spread at all, just enough to give a lovely look of faded linen :D
This week the dt is being joined by the Lovely Dawn Lotharius, who makes some amazing stuff!! So why not pop over and leave her some love?

Birthday Girl with Attitude!!

Stef aka Glitterbabe told us yesterday about a company that will be sponsoring her challenge later this year, but when she showed us the images we will be using I couldn't resist giving them an early plug:D The company is called "Digi's With Attitude", and as you can see from this image "Grumpy Gretchen" is going to be a big hit! The sentiment is one of theirs too.

She just totally reminds me of one of my nieces haha!

Black and White

I haven't made a card for Anything Goes Challenge Blog for ages, so I've made this one especially for them :D. The theme is simply "Black and White"

I used an embossing folder by Indentz(actually it's debossed), then highlighted with a little black ink. Stamped some simple flowers and added black pearls for the centres. Mounted onto matt black card, which I've added faux stitching to with a white sakura pen.
Hope you like it :D XXX

Witch way should I go?

This thursday we are setting a "Frame it" challenge at Glitterbabes :D It's up to you how you interpret this (as long as it involves sparkly stuff). I have chosen to highlight one portion of the image using glittery parenthesis(brackets) as a framing device.

The images I have used are from JLJ DESIGNS who are sponsoring the challenge this week. They are called "Ghost Bear" and "Witch Bear". Ghost bear is covered in diamond stickles, and the backing papers are also from JLJDesigns Halloween paper pack(though I have changed the colour of one with my puter, the green was orange).

Cowgirls Challenge with a twist :D

This weeks challenge at Cowgirls Sundays is to follow a sketch, designed by our very own Alison:D The twist is that we would like you to make your own background paper!!! Sounds a bit scary, but is really fun to do :)
Our sponsor for this week is the fabulous Michelle Perkett, who is offering this weeks winner

Michelle also gave us some of her images to work with, and I was given "Lily the Enchantment Fairy". So I naturally went for green backing paper. I used several differnt green inkpads to colour a sheet of white paper, then overstamped with flowers and flourishes. Then I got carried away and made my own flower and buttons using the same paper(without overstamping for flower)

I printed the image 3 times so that I could de-coupage her, glazed the buttons and bouquet, and used mica powders on her wings and dress.
I've sent this one to my sister for her birthday :D xxx

Ice, Ice Baby!

This week at Glitterbabes we are being sponsored by Copic Musketeers!!! I don't know what the prize is , but I'm still jealous, I LOVE COPICS!!! I've used them to colour my card this week:D

I've also used 2 of Stef's new images, "Ice Dancing" and "Happy Hollydays". This gorgeous little ice dancer was so easy to colour, and I shrunk and copied the holly image to make corners before adding the sentiment that came with it to the tag.(lovely font Stef)

Showcasing young talent!!

The Glitterbabe is sponsoring a new young crafter today. Her name is Carly and she is just 12 years old!!! This is a card I have made using Carly's Sketch.

It was a bit short notice, so I've cheated(by my rules:D) and used my graphics programme to do all my matting and layering, using JLJDesigns Halloween Paper Pack. The image is from Glitterbabe (pre-coloured), and I've just added purple stickles and copper peel-offs.
This is the sketch I have worked to;
Why not take a moment to pop over to Carly's Blog and give her some encouragement ? :D XXX

Purdy little thing!

Howdy folks, this pretty little creature is "Sonnie", a recent creation by the very talented CJ over at Cowgirls-Up Designs.

I don't normally do "girly pink" cards, but this image just made it so easy for me, I even found a girly handbag charm in my stash to add :D The papers are My Mind's Eye "summer dreams" and I've used copics and promarkers to match her up. I've also added tiny little pearls to the flowers on the backing paper, avery simple layout, but I feel quite effective.
To see more "girly" cards with CJ's images, join us this coming sunday at Cowgirls Sunday Challenge. We are going to be sponsored by Polly Craft, who have some awesome new releases out today, so why not go check them out?

I was given "Halloween Train" to work with, and I couldn't wait to show it to you :D I've used it to make an easel card, but I think it makes an awesome decoration for the treats table or window cill!. You could even cut out the individual elements to decorate goodie bags!

I've used the challenge colours of "Orange and Black"(halloween would be nice but not compulsary), and added a blue/green glitter for a ghostly shimmer mwahahahaha.... Quick Question to Blogland

Does any one out there have any idea why, when I click on some blog links I get "cannot open with internet explorer" ? Then, even though I can see the "offending" blog, it aborts. It is a real pain, as I am a dt member for 2 challenge sites, and feel like I am not being fair to entrants when I can't leave a comment for them :(
Any suggestions greatfully recieved XXX

Christmas Inspiration!

I have combined several challenges to make this card, all Christmas obviously haha!

The challenge at Bah Humbug Challenge#38 is "Across the Miles", and Winter Wonderland's is for a "Male Christmas Card".
I was thinking of my dad when I made this. He has walked many miles in his life, but illness has "grounded" him for quite a while . When we go out in the car he looks longingly into the distance at the woods he is used to walking in(this is what will get him up and about again). I've ripped a piece of paper to use as a mask, to form the snow covered hills using ink to paper. Then I overstamped with trees in differing strengths of ink to give the impression of distance. Then added Peter Rabbit (crafters companion stamps) scurrying along a track.
I am also entering this for Just Inspiration Challenge#14"Christmas", and Lothian Crafts Challenge#7 "Christmas"
