Wings and Things....!

Right, this is a long one so bear with :D

This weeks inspiration from The Butterfly Effect is "WINGS"
I have some grunge board die cuts from Tim Holtz so I grabbed my fav set of wings and drew around them, covered the space with masking fluid(stinks of amonia!!!) and waited for it to dry.....
Then I smooshed some pearlised paint around to get a swirly sky background, and waited for paint to dry.....yawn...bored!

I'm not very good at waiting for stuff to dry(could you tell?), so I ruttled around and found these guys :D 4 for 79p!

I took the set of wings I'd used as a template and painted them with silver metallic paint

Then stamped over them with stazon ink, and a fabulous "Angels" sentiment block from Crafty Individuals (CI-140

and, added a skeleton :D Well it was something to do while the paint dried...

So, back to the canvas....
when everything was dry, I rubbed off the masking fluid(sorry about the glare from the shiney paint), and painted the wings area insoft blue(gazing ball by Martha Stewart)

and drew back the wings with Black Diamond Stickles
using "faded Jeans" distress stickles to add depth and texture.

I stencilled some birdies along the bottom(mini birds of a feather, by Crafter's Workshop)

These "birds" of a feather just had to flock together :D

The cages at the top of the canvas were added using the same stencil, but with texture/embossing paste instead of paint.

and a couple of close ups to show the detail on the eyes....(tiny pearls with blue and black paint)

Hope you enjoyed this post :D

  3. If I had skeletons, I would be running full tilt to my studio to make some of these. FABULOUS! They would make a great 'banner', hanging across a wall. LOVE them! Thanks for dropping over to my blog, Gina. :oD Donna
