"Together we are a force for Nature"

Continuing from yesterdays post....
I decided on a family portrait, but didn't want to get hung up on "likenesses". It was more about the feeling of us being a family unit.
I drew 4 outlines representing each of us, and dulled the background with white acrylic.

Next I emphasised the figures with soft brown acrylic... (working with the 4 colours from the had prints)

and slapped some more colour over the background with a glue spreader(I wanted to keep the work loose)

I blocked the figures using the colours of each personality (as discussed in yesterdays post), representing the 4 elements...and highlighted the "Heart" that appeared from my sons hand print :D

I thought the white showing through was too harsh, so I used a weak brown glaze to blend the background...

and add depth to the figures.

I am very pleased with this piece, it went from an uptight piece about me, to the flowing piece about us :D
I would like to thank, Tee Thompson, Virginia and Rita for their inspiration :D

Enjoy :D XXX

  7. Gina. Wow. I love it more knowing the story behind it. And the wonder of seeing those hands still. And all of you there. In the one space, bound by love. I appreciate I am emotional at the moment :D but I have tears for the heartfelt wonder you created. xx
