Sorry folks, loads of pics, but it was such fun to do. Art on it's way :D
We babysat our(very confident) 2 year old niece on Saturday, and because I was unable to leave the house I thought she might enjoy a bit of baking. Pre baked pastry bases and prepped apples(from my own trees), scrubbed table, and let them loose :D
Chloe has to do EVERYTHING herself...
apple mush into pastry bases...
now flour the surface...
"spread it out! Auntie Gina!"
Attack pastry with rolling pin...
if your arms aren't strong enough, get a "uncle Patrick" to help...
and if that fails..ditch the rolling pin :D
Now try again...
"Dirty hands!!!"
Pie toppings don't have to be boring and flat...we chose to use cookie cutters...
and make fun shapes to top the pies...
Lots of shapes...
"Break it!!...Chloe do it!"
"O-oh! Hands!!! Wipe!!"
Arrange shapes as desired....
and brush with egg...
and sprinkle liberally with sugar (which is why I didn't add lots to the filling)
Grief pie making is tiring!
...and messy...
Give pies to Auntie Gina to bake...
and take a break with Uncle Patrick and some Disney while you wait....
Mmmmmmm....Pie + Meggy = Happy Chloe :D
Enjoy :D XXX
Ooh, those pies look delicious!
