Today I wanted to make a gift for a friend. I had bought some cotton bags from Hobbycraft, at £1 each it would be silly to make my own, but extremely good to decorate with my own art!!
So I selected an image from my file of a card I made a year or so ago, and printed it onto "iron on transfer paper". When cut out it is 8x8 inches.
This is the reason I own an iron....
Follow the instructions in the transfer paper pack VERY carefully, and never throw them away as some papers require printing as a mirror image and some just print as normal.
Remember to let the transfer cool before peeling....
to reveal your personal and totally unique image :D
I can now add decorations to jazz it up even more...
but as I sew by hand, this bit will take a while :D
Enjoy :D ...and
USE YOUR ART!!!!
Fabulous idea! And I love how you bedazzled it, too. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job and great idea. I don't own an iron at all though, lol!
ReplyDeleteLucy x
What a great idea! I didn't know you could buy iron on transfer paper (DUH) .. I will have to look on line. Do you use a printed copy of your work? Will ink jet prints work? Thanks Gina. hugs, Donna
ReplyDeleteYes...you put the paper through your printer. I used an inkjet print of my original 5 x 5 card :D
DeleteWonderful! Can't wait to see it in all its' glory!
ReplyDeleteHugs xx
Fab idea Gina, do you get the transfer paper from Hobbycraft as well? never seen any (but prob not looked for it) lol xx
ReplyDeleteNo, got the paper from Wilkinsons, but I know The Range do it too, so Hobby craft probably do :D
DeleteWow, that's a wonderful idea and a fabulous bag.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gift, lucky girl! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm in complete art-lust. I'm a bag-whore! Can you say whore in your blog? I hope so because I've said whore three times already *sigh* but seriously, I LOVE bags. And to see your own art on it makes this baby extra lovely ;-)
ReplyDeleteYes you can say whore...words is words...it is only the manner in which they are used that would offend me....and then I just have an excuse to bite :D
DeleteWow! That bag looks great! Wish I could do something like that! Your friend is very lucky to have a such creative friend!
ReplyDeleteGina, this is fantastic! So special! Love bags! Your friend is going to love this! And, you are right, "use your art!" ;o)
ReplyDeleteSo cute...I actually just printed some work on iron-on transfer paper and am trying to find a use for them....bags would be divine :)
ReplyDeleteHobby craft have plain cotton cushion covers too...I have some of those as well :D
