What have I been up to this weekend???

Well I treated myself to these nummy knitting books...and am loving them!!!
I always wanted to try sculpting, but don't have the room...so why not sculpt with wool?

I started my first project within hours of the books arrival....using Fiona McDonalds "Knitted Fairies" as inspiration....
The main body for these dolls is really quick to make, and the patterns extremely easy to follow. I would say a relative beginner could easily complete any of the projects in this book.
I chose to mix and match the elements from several of the fairies, and added bits of my own to achieve the look I was after for this particular Faerie...
and the "rooted hair" technique to build a lusciously full head of hair...
which then needed a sparkly headband to tame...
before her hat could sit comfortably(also my own addition).
All self respecting "Steampunkettes" need button up boots...
and an ancient family heirloom on a velvet choker.
A frock coat edged in fur....
and floral hat band (well she is a Faerie).
She is to be my first Pay it Forward gift for this year, so I can't show her properly until the recipient has had chance to. So I am afraid I will have to make another one lol

SPECIAL PLACES
There is a place, I know it well,
Where it's said ancient Faeries dwell.
They dance and play on gentle breeze
As I watch in awe beneath the trees.

There is a place I love to dwell,
Where Faeries dance, as I hear tell.
They spin and twirl on branch and breeze
As I walk beneath these ancient trees.

Enjoy :D XXX

My own words

I had thought that I'd shared many of my poems with you all on this blog, but I can't find them in past posts? I am now thinking I shared them on my other blog(which I deleted last year).
Prudence commented that she would like to read more of my words after the Vampire day soiree entry, so if you will indulge me, I will share :D

This is the book I made several years ago now, to store my writings in...
and this is the hand written verse I am going to share today...

HOPE OF SPRING

Cold and shivering,
the Sparrow huddles beneath soggy leaves.
The Robin, once brightly bouncing from tree to tree,
now pale and bedraggled.
Where now the shimmering, spiralling flocks of Starlings?
The small, brightly coloured birds that visit the garden now,
creep in silence amongst the "mushy mess" that was yesterday's bread.
Pigeons land like loutish thugs on the table,
scattering birds and seeds alike.
Only the cry of the big black Crow is heard amid the smothering darkness of Winter.
They all wait.
Some patiently, some not so.
With each new morning, listening carefully for the signal to come.
The bubbling, sparkling song of the Blackbird...
Bringing hope that Spring is near.

How Beats My Heart?

HOW BEATS MY HEART?

How beats MY heart?....
Creeping round the neighbourhood.
Filled with passion, fire and blood,
This heart leads me to something good.

How beat THESE hearts?....
Shrouded by a longing deep,
I stand in shadows as you sleep
And darkness comes, our love to keep.

How beats YOUR heart?...
Do you feel nothing for our plight?
We are the Children of the Night
With whom you vow to ever fight.

How beats YOUR heart?
Compassion for my love you lack.
My heart breaks as you attack
with tarnished cross upon your back.

How beats YOUR heart?...
With righteousness, so harsh,so grand.
A wooden stake grasped in your hand...
His body turns to barren sand.....

NOW beats my heart!...
It screams in rage without his love,
And claws spring forth from velvet glove,
As I leap upon you from above...

How beats THIS heart?...
Here in my grip...
Which from your chest I gladly rip...

How beats MY heart Hunter?

......SILENTLY!!!!

So what you been up to Gina???

Well Blogger....I am arting my socks off :D Unfortunately that means I forget to come visit you, but when I do I have lots to show you :D
Firstly I will show you the card I made this week. We don't write to people very often these days, so when I do I like to make the effort and send something more than a scrap of paper....
In my last post I mentioned an atc I had made. They are way to small to just mail, so I made this creepy card to send it in :D

We scrapbookers have stashes of 12 x 12 papers we hoard ...but they can be soooo perfect for card making...

Some simple matting and layering, and a little fancy cutting...
and you have the perfect card for the occasion :D And it doesn't hurt to make a little effort with the envelope too....

Next a quick look at my new pinboard...
tis huge! about 4 1/2 x 3 feet....

I am filling it with the yummy cards and tags and notes sent by arty friends (and a few bits of my own).
It will be a wall of inspiration :D

Did I show you the doggy I knitted for my niece last month??(Patons book 3867) It is nearly as tall as her, and she named him "Morley" lol

This is my shadow box made (from scratch) for an online class with Sarah Hand via the Soul Food course I am taking...
*loves my little moonstruck bunny*

And today? I am playing with oil pastels with Jeanette House (also at Soul Food)

So as you can see (and I haven't shown you everything yet!!!) I have been a happy little arting bunny :D
Hope you are all suffering from similar Art attacks.
Enjoy :D XXX
