Well I treated myself to these nummy knitting books...and am loving them!!!
I always wanted to try sculpting, but don't have the room...so why not sculpt with wool?
I started my first project within hours of the books arrival....using Fiona McDonalds "Knitted Fairies" as inspiration....
The main body for these dolls is really quick to make, and the patterns extremely easy to follow. I would say a relative beginner could easily complete any of the projects in this book.
I chose to mix and match the elements from several of the fairies, and added bits of my own to achieve the look I was after for this particular Faerie...
and the "rooted hair" technique to build a lusciously full head of hair...
which then needed a sparkly headband to tame...
before her hat could sit comfortably(also my own addition).
All self respecting "Steampunkettes" need button up boots...
and an ancient family heirloom on a velvet choker.
A frock coat edged in fur....
and floral hat band (well she is a Faerie).
She is to be my first Pay it Forward gift for this year, so I can't show her properly until the recipient has had chance to. So I am afraid I will have to make another one lol
SPECIAL PLACES
There is a place, I know it well,
Where it's said ancient Faeries dwell.
They dance and play on gentle breeze
As I watch in awe beneath the trees.
There is a place I love to dwell,
Where Faeries dance, as I hear tell.
They spin and twirl on branch and breeze
As I walk beneath these ancient trees.
Enjoy :D XXX
