Catching up with class...

Haven't shared (or done) much of my class work while I've been doll making. Didn't seem like a good idea to get all painty lol
So this weekend I have decided to get stuck in, and have combined 2 classes for this project(as yet unfinished)
One of the classes involved creating a hanging lantern from corrugated card, but I had this old lamp shade waiting for a revamp...
Lesson 43 with Heather Santos was about making your own stamps...so I made these from make-up sponges and cardboard...
and used them to decorate the lamp shade.(yes I used shiny gold and silver paint)
For lesson 45 with Mystele I needed a piece of quilted fabric. I didn't have any, but I do have a felting machine and a bag of scraps from my doll making....
I made my own fabric and randomly over-stitched to add texture.
The point of the class was to make a fabric figure to "fly" around the night sky...I still have to poke holes and add dangly bits. Should be quite cool when finished :D
Enjoy :D XXX

Bunnies multiply...

As I have no intention of letting Hortense loose in the world, I needed another doll to give away at the Mad Tea Party
So here is Harriet Hare...Hortense's daughter.
I will explain why Harriet needs a new home in my Party Post :D
And while we are talking "bunnies"
this is my piece for Class 47 at Soul Food with Micki Whilde
He is a cheeky naughty sweetheart...
 just look at that face!!!!
But he is picking my flowers, which is...
Forbidden lol

Meet Hortense Hare (with the "Fuck You!" stare...

Well she isn't in all her finery yet, but she is almost ready for her appearance at the Mad Tea Party in July.

(Doll based on Miranda pattern from Jane Horrox's Cloth Dolls)
Hortense would be horrified to know I have shared such personal and intimate pics of her...
I mean, she's barely got her face on yet...
 or her gown!
Hortense is a very confidently secretive LADY...
Nor would she normally allow you to see her wild hair...
that belies her rather risqué behaviour out of the view of uninvited guests *uh hum*
So for the most part she has her hair quiet firmly under control.
Hortense will be visible in all her glory at...
where she is hoping to meet up with a rather distinguished gentleman Hare!

...and while I am obsessed....

Meet "Moon Dancer"
She will be leaving shortly to dance with a lovely lady by the name of Lorelei aka Eliora, who makes the most gorgeous Pagan accoutrements.
I have known her for quite sometime, but realised I have never sent her a gift. I decided to make her a doll, but wanted specific colours for the fabric.
Didn't have any, so I painted my own, inspired by lesson 44 at Soul Food by Kristen Powers , in which she showed us how to mono print using a rubber mat.
I smooshed some craft paints onto my rubber mat and then spread a piece of cream cotton over the top to get this nummy swirly print. I took a second print each time to acquire a paler matching piece.
Then I highlighted shapes with a permanent marker.
Some of the paints I used(Martha Stewarts) were pearlescent and remained shimmery on the fabric.
Now it was just a case of choosing which doll pattern to use. I chose the "Titania" model from Cloth Doll Making by Jane Horrox
I wanted something "floaty" for her skirt, so I chose a silky scarf from my stash...
and gave her soft silky hair...
she also has added sparklie, but you can't see it from these pics.
