Well it wasn't London that's for sure.
In fact, it was probably as far away from there
whilst still being in England as you can get lol.
For my birthday this year we went to the far north of
England to visit Haidrian's Wall, and the remains
of the Vindolanda Roman fort...
totally amazing to walk amongst the stones of ages past.
And then into Hexham, I mean, with a name like that
it would be rude not to right ;D
And it was so magical! With old buildings and lanes,
and hidden secrets round every corner...
and magical doorways that lead to even more
magical places...
an Altar decorated in red, black and purple...
(yes Magaly, I lit candles and had words for you)
with side panels revealing long last images
of the "Dance Macabre"...
followed by a trip to the underworld (crypt) that is
believed to have been a place of worship by the Roman's
before the Abbey was built.
While, back outside, more treasures to find and enjoy.
and that isn't anything like the number of photos I took lol
Pussy cat, pussy cat, what did you there?
I went to visit the Worm Moon in all her glory
Oh that looks like a cool trip! My husband and I kick around the idea of visiting places like that in the UK at some point.
ReplyDeleteThat area is definitely worth a trip...so much Sky. And Keilder forest is a designated dark sky zone XXX
DeleteLooks like a really interesting visit-we have a few little old lanes like that in our town centre
