What lurks beneath????!

Another Guy for June

Tee Time challenge this week "What lurks under your bed?"

I had this book page that has a quote from Shakespeare, which seemed rather apt.

"If we shadows have offended,

Think but this, and all is mended,

That you have but slumber'd here,

While these visions did appear."

I know what I'd like to be lurking under my bed lol

though he did end up a bit cross-eyed, probably from all the dust under there :D

Pencil/watercolour/ink/soft pencil...

and added my own words around the page...

"What Daemons lurk beneath your bed?

What dreams they whisper in your head?

Will you lie awake in dread?

Or chase these daemons out instead?"

Dark Love, Finale...

Decided to put the last 4 pages up together, as you all know how the images progress by now :D

"Too late for flight, she stands her ground.

Still smiling as she turns around.

Quick as a flash her hordes descend.

The Queen their duty to defend.

With passion drawn from darkest soul

He battles to her side...

And with the raising of her hand

The legions now subside.

United now in passion's rage

They feed upon their lust.

Full knowing when the sun comes up,

They both return to dust."

 I "doodled a carved heart on the opening pages, so I wanted to do something similar on the closing page.

D and N...daemon and nymph :D

Don't you love the way that crow just appeared?

Hope you've enjoyed my little exercise ...the poem would probably have been longer, but I ran out of pages. Verse per page next time I think.

Ink line drawing...

Adding soft colour pencil...

a touch of inktense black pencil to help with blending...

add water :D

Dry and blend further with distress inks and sponge...

"The gauntlet thrown, the challenge taken.

His human guise she has mistaken.

No mere mortal beast she's taken in,

but flash of fang in Daemon's grin."

Dark Love...part 5

Spread #5 of my Octagonal Journal

I draw my images in permanent ink fine liner, then add colour quite roughly with water soluble pencils

The red eyes are permanent ink too....

Then I blend using Tim Holtz distress inks(applied with shaving brushes and sponges). TH inks are water based so activate the pencils :D

...and now the verse...

"His dark desire he's holding back.

His pain beyond compare,

As his muscles start to twitch.

Yet must he stand and stare."

The face is coloured with soft pencils, then blended with distress inks.

Dark Love...

This is the first spread in my Octagonal Journal.

I decided to paint the inside covers with Rose Madder acrylic...

and rather than draw straight onto the book, I gathered some torn out desk diary pages to work on.

Drawn in pen, then seriously distressed with pencils and TH distress ink pads.

He is leaning on a tree, so that lead me to think he may have been carving a heart, which in turn lead me to "tangle" a heart...

You don't have to stink to be strong!

So...it's June, and I am already suffering withdrawal symptoms from the lack of 29 Faces for May challenge.

But WAIT! Martha is such a lovely inspirational woman, that she has suggested we do a less taxing challenge this month called June Guys, focussing on portraits of men :D(I feel an eye-candy rush coming on lol) Do as few or as many as you wish, and just add to the linky here (remember to label your posts ,june guys, so you only have to link once)

My journal page today is about being a strong woman.

Many woman...in my opinion, misunderstand what being a strong woman is.

Many woman, in my experience, think being a strong woman just means hating men. Trying to demoralise and belittle them at every opportunity...

I believe, being a strong woman, is to support my men folk...especially when they are tired and afraid.

I have often heard it reported (historically, and in these uncertain days) that even the strongest of men will cry out for their mother in the heat of battle. Which proves to me that they were raised by strong, LOVING, women.

I screwed up on the lettering, but I'm sure I'll get over it :D XXX
