Pussy cat , pussy cat where have you been....

Well it wasn't London that's for sure.
In fact, it was probably as far away from there
whilst still being in England as you can get lol.

For my birthday this year we went to the far north of
England to visit Haidrian's Wall, and the remains
of the Vindolanda Roman fort...

totally amazing to walk amongst the stones of ages past.

And then into Hexham, I mean, with a name like that
it would be rude not to right ;D

And it was so magical! With old buildings and lanes,

and hidden secrets round every corner...

and magical doorways that lead to even more
magical places...

an Altar decorated in red, black and purple...
(yes Magaly, I lit candles and had words for you)

with side panels revealing long last images
of the "Dance Macabre"...

followed by a trip to the underworld (crypt) that is
believed to have been a place of worship by the Roman's
before the Abbey was built.

While, back outside, more treasures to find and enjoy.
and that isn't anything like the number of photos I took lol

Pussy cat, pussy cat, what did you there?

I went to visit the Worm Moon in all her glory
and we shared a nice warm cuppa and a chat
 See you all again soon
Enjoy

Waking to the Light

 Blessed Imbolc

A time of renewal,
 of starting things afresh
and today I took time to meditate
on my guides for 2022.

Last year I called upon Sekhmet,
goddess of Plagues and Healing
(and she didn't let me down for a moment)
I take this opportunity to give her thanks.

Whilst joining in with an Imbolc service
performed at the Chalice Well, I joyfully
received knowledge of my totem/guide.
The Nuthatch
Such a powerful totem, who took me on a journey
from tree top to deep beneath the earth, grounding me
in the moment, to watch the maiden rise from the mud.
I am filled with joy and hope for the coming year.

With this feisty little warrior to guide my steps
how could I not be.

I hope you all find such helpful guides in your lives.

Blessed Be

To keep me sane while waiting I took part in
Kaleidoscope Taster week with Tamara Laporte.
One of the classes was about "Analogous" colour
schemes and we painted a "Mighty Lion"
I enjoyed the process so much it is currently my
Painting meditation each morning...
now meet
"Beautiful Bush Baby"
 "Delightful Donkey"
 "Elegant Elephant"
 "Gentle Giraffe"
 " Opulent Okapi"
 "Pretty Platypus"
 "Zany Zebra"
and yes I am going to have a full alphabet by the time
the full course begins in August :)

also this week I have had the company of
this stunning "Old Lady" moth in my art shed...

so I am totally in a "happy place" right now.
Hope you all are too XXX

Still so much beauty in the World...

Being thankful for the simple things...
like this yellow climbing rose that fills the lower
part of my garden with amazing perfume...
the whitest of white blossom on the Mountain Ash
that will be replaced with gorgeous red berries...
the anticipation of the rich aroma from the purple lilac ...
finally managing to get a clear shot of the bluebells
under my privet hedge lol...
 old-fashioned purple Columbine (Aqualegia)
pretty red flowers on my main Hawthorn tree...
another promise for a better future from an abundance
of strawberry plants ...
pretty delicate flowers of a cultivated Aqualigia...
and the stunning opening of a full blooming,
soft scented rose :)

Also enjoyed making our 3 wild pools a safer
adventure for our expected grand daughter.
We bailed out the deep pools (including 13 frogs)
and filled with rocks before refilling and
replacing wildlife...
and the garden is a real adventure now...
 so lush..
and just a little organised :D
 Wildflower patch filling nicely...
and the copse overflowing with "green"

Day by day we grow...

(Photo heavy post)
Being in lockdown since Ostara seems so strange,
but hopefully for those of us not directly affected
by the virus it will give us time to grow our own
expectations from the world around us.

Looking around I am seeing the planet breathe and grow,
positively thriving...
 absolutely everything planted is germinating...
when the first blossoms appeared I was spellbound.
The skies bluer than I can remember in so many years.
 Huge bumblebees leisurely crawling amongst
 the  floral masses.
 Favoured friends visiting once more.
Each plant that flowers bringing new wonder and
 heartfelt smiles
Even the less welcome visitors tapping on the door lol.
But now the Crab apple is blooming...
my thoughts are turning to the Mayflower waiting
to burst, welcoming Beltane...
and I am grateful that my Love is still safe and strong
I truly hope you and yours are too .
Blessed Be XXX

Being a Tree....

...and the importance of a calm soul.

Sometimes life throws us interesting(but scary) lessons.
Yesterday morning had a beautiful calm start to it,
watering vegetables in my planters and greenhouse.
Listening to the birds singing, happy and loud.
My 2 furbubs wagging excitedly to be going out
for a walk to the park....
We didn't make it to the park.

After walking to the end of the road and chatting for a
moment with a fellow dog walker, we noticed 2 dogs in a
nearby yard getting "excited" so we went our separate ways
to give them space.
Their owner was checking his fences for gaps....
when 1 of the dogs squeezed through and ran at us.
I am not afraid of dogs(and because we were near a busy
road) I stood still and allowed it to approach(the owner
rushing after apologising)
Unfortunately, his dog took an instant dislike to Poppy.
and attacked.
This excited the second dog who then also broke out
and came running to join in.
Their owner was distraught ...trying to pull them away,
horrified by their behaviour.
I wanted to attack them myself(I know I could have hurt them)
but I needed to stay calm...I became a tree.

I dropped Busters lead ,
as they didn't show any interest in him, so that he could run away
BUT he didn't.
He repeatedly ran at them(no teeth) "tigging" them to get
them to chase him!!! to draw them away from Poppy, while
I managed to reach down and lift Poppy off the ground.
The dogs still tried to jump and drag her from my arms,
and Buster STILL ran at them to distract them.
By this time a wonderful young woman pulled up in her car
to offer assistance(dogs still jumping up me barking and growling)
This total stranger allowed me to put my dogs...I now had Buster
up off the ground too...into the boot of her car, and drove us home.
The 2 dogs continued to try and get at P and B even though
they could no longer see them, and her car was scratched quite badly.

Fortunately a visit to the vet(which the other dogs owner offered
to pay for) showed Poppy had been very lucky. No puncture
wounds but badly bruised and soft tissue damage on her abdomen.
She is now understandably nervous to be alone, but resting.
I have several scratches and bruises from the jumping,
but to be honest I didn't feel them yesterday...a Tree has to
stand fast and tall against the storm to provide shelter
and safety to it's furry friends..
on this occasion, screaming and kicking out would have
only served to fuel the attack.
And Our Hero...
instinctively knew that...and came out with no
injuries at all!!!

Sorry if this post causes any distress, but if I don't write
it down it will keep cycling in my brain, and I won't
 get anything done :)

and the lovely Brenda Brown
sent me a stash to play with, which arrived yesterday after the stress
of the morning to provide balance in my life XXX
