Voodoo Val...

Had a chance to get messy again today, so thought I'd get in early this week for

Magical Mischief

 Voodoo Val
Is a strange kinda gal.
In her eye is a bit of a gleam.
She will smile with her lips,
And wiggle her hips,
But all is not quite what it seems.
With a wave of her hand
Your unable to stand,
And she'll wrap you up tight in a hug.
As stars fill your eyes
It should be no surprise....
Your gonna wake up as a bug!

but the DT have been making paper dolls.
This reminded me of a recent post by Darcy where she made up a little paper doll using some of her stamps as body parts....
I has Darcy stamps!!!...and a few face stamps...
I stamped a few of the images onto plain white card...
Chose the ones I wanted to use
(this one is called "Beautiful" and is by Donna Rodgers)
coloured with markers and cut out...
assembled and added a few embelishments
and glitter....
after all a girl should always "sparkle" just a little.

Give us a kiss gorgeous!!!

 BLessed Imbolg to you all!!

Time for the light to return to this world and fan the flames of passion so that life can begin anew...
and with this in mind I made my pages for February in my altered album.
Darcy's challenge this month is to ;
1: Leave part of the original image visible
2: Create a paint effect using bubblewrap or clingfilm
3: Add some corrugated card

Couldn't resist using Gene Simmons from "KISS" (well it is Valentine's this month)
and how could I not use his face lol...so romantic :D
Like a cock bird in heat...
Again I am using Darcy's own stamp designs, though this is not necessary as part of the challenge(which is more for inspiration)

Required items: "Bubble wrap" in texture paste, then I dabbed the excess off onto the pages too.

"Corrugated card". I die cut a few flowers and circles from coloured corrugated paper I just happened to have in my stash, and stamped on them with Darcy's stamps...
Building up nicely...now for the quote...

Found the perfect quote from Poe's "A Dream Within A Dream"(I will be adding a Poe quote to each page)
"Take this kiss upon the brow!"

 But NO TONGUES hahahahaha....
 Sometimes I embarrass myself  :D
(Couple of close ups of bubble wrap marks and corrugated paper flowers)

Can't wait for next months page :D

Altered Calendar/art journally album...

YAY!! Finally time to start getting messy with Darcy....
I have been joining her in her yearly projects for some time now, and every year is something totally different.
For 2015 we are altering/arting on Calendars!!, and each month Darcy is going to set us items and techniques to use on our pages.
I chose and prepared mine in advance, pasting each image into an old photo album Which you can see HERE

January's page is ELVIS...well he is known as the instigator of Rock as we now it...
This is the original page...

And this is how it looks now...
The "King" and his minions :D

(We have to leave part of the original image visible)

It seemed only fitting that he should have a crown..
(one of the "must use" for this month is book pages)

(The background is actually a pale blue)

 ("must use" crackle effect)

 ("must use" book pages)

Chose to use Darcy's own stamps from Paper Artsy in my journal pages each month.
Also, as the journal cover is "POE"d I have decided to use a quote from one of his poems on the facing page each month. I wanted a quote that said something about "beginnings"

"...- in my childhood, in the dawn of a most stormy life-..."
from Alone by Edgar Allen Poe

I am planning on adding more personal journalling to each page as the month progresses, so it will be  a record of my year :D

Mish mosh...

Can't believe how much I am missing my art space already...
(it is even emptier than this now)
But am looking forward to having my boy home for a while :)
And while we are making a mess we thought why not add soot and cement dust...
and open up the old fireplace....
 (getting there slowly)
A lovely arting opportunity came as Jackie Beeman's circle journal arrived for me to work in.
Organised by Ayala's Art, we are working in small 5x7 inch journals.
I used water soluble pencils blended with clear gesso, paint pens and permanent marker. The leaves and motto are from Darcy's newest stamp set for Paper Artsy. It says
"Turn your face to the sun and the shadows will always fall behind you"

 Now some fluffy clouds...
how fantastic did this look...so many different varieties of cloud over-laying each other...
and then I spotted the perfection that is wild Honeysuckle growing through blackberry briars!!!
 (smells totally awesome)
Meanwhile...I HAD to do some crafting... so I am knitting another faerie...
( It is a gift for a friend shhhhhhh...)
Enjoy :D XXX
