Baaaad Bloggee....

I have been a terrible blogger this week...got caught up in a large mixed media painting that I'm not ready to share yet, so thought I better make something to share :D

I made this 8x8 canvas a few weeks ago..but ruined it by picking up my silver paint instead of iridescent medium, which obliterated all the yummy colours that had been the background :/

So out came the gesso today...and started again...

The new challenge over at The  Game is to create something with an image of some one sleeping. I can't believe I didn't have such an image in my massive stash, so I drew my own.

and started adding paint...

I normally start with a busy background, but this time just worked onto the white textured surface...

in primary colours, with a dry brush.

Then added some of my fav viridian green...and edged with a bit of black.

I like her...not sure if she is sleeping or dead, but I do like the simplistic "scruffy" style to this painting.

I am calling this piece "Sweet Dreams", and it is my entry for this weeks "A Piece a Week"

When your life is in pieces...

Sometimes life can be a real pig!! No matter how you try (so we are told) you can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear....

but you can make art from a piggy puzzle!

The theme this week over at The Game Challenge is "Name That Tune...", use musical script in your project.

So I started by covering the puzzle pieces with music paper :D I used the reverse of the puzzle pieces, just in case the image showed through...

and painted the frame a lovely crimson pink/red.

When dry, I started drawing straight onto the pieces with graphite and watercolour pencils.

Building depth with layers of water colour and pencil, and adding brown paint with a dry brush to the frame.

Tarted the frame up a bit with some Inca gold, and highlighted the image with souffle gel pens.

Adding a layer of satin varnish "pushed" the image back into the paper, and drew the musical notes out, making the piece much "richer" :D

To remind me..."When my life is in pieces...I should still sing from the heart", because it makes me happy :D

Why not join in with the Game Challenge....no real rules...just follow the theme, oh and obviously, it has to be a never before blogged project.

The Power of Four!

The further adventures of Lady Ophelia Pendleton (Darcy's postcard Challenge) will continue on Sunday 30th September

Today I wanted to share a little wall hanger I made for The Game Challenge#10 Four Squares, that represents the four seasons :D

I started by cutting a 4"x4" piece of grey board, and putting it through my Cuttlebug to add texture.

Then I selected 4 images from my Dezinaworld Mono Ladies, Faux stamps sheet 1, and cut them out with a 1" square die.

Next, added the colours of the seasons...

blended with a little iridescent paint, and cut out some plain frames, which I painted with metallic acrylics.

Decided on a Diamond alignment, and glued images + frames in place.

I have some tiny alphabet beads, and thought they would make a more unusual caption. I threaded them onto a piece of wire...

and then made holes with a pokey tool to thread the wire through to the back.

Was looking a bit ...not quite...so I added Inca Gold to the edges(see 1st photo). It doesn't show in the pics, but the surface is all shimmery.

Round and shiny :D

Last week Tee Thompsom asked if we had any Twinkling H2O paints to play with, and The Game challenged us to make something round....

I has H2O's(glueing to old cd's helps to stop the tiny pots from going missing in stash)

and I have this small round pebble....and a desire to paint on a stone inspired by other artists from past 29 Faces challenges :D

I sharpened a pencil to make a fine drawing on the pebble...

The pebble was a gift from the sea, so the face of a mermaid made sense to me :D

Then I got a teeny tiny brush (pack of 4 from the Works £1.99)

and started to paint directly onto the pebble surface with the H20s...

and they seemed to dry quite happily...

I added more paint to intensify the colours :D

Am going to try varnishing it, but wanted to post an image first(just in case)

Bingo!!!

I am loving playing along with The Game Challenge!!! Once a fortnight they set an inspirational challenge based on game. This week it is Bingo.

...and this is what I came up with for this challenge :D

you have to pick a line from a bingo card of suggested items to use in your creation. I did a lucky dip to make it a little more of a challenge than just choosing a line that suited my stash...I got Top Left Diagonal :S

I rummaged in my stash and found DB glimmer sprays, an EK Success border punch, a manikin blank I had started covering AGES ago, and a pile of peel off stickers(hope they count as I don't have any other kind of sticker)

made a sheet of coloured paper with the shimmer sprays...

and added a layer of shimmer to the manikin.

I chose this punch because of the flower print already on the manikin.

The paper borders were a bit stiff and lifeless...so I scrunched mwahahaha....

..inked the edges with TH Worn lipstick ink and glued around to form a shimmery skirt.

I selected a lacy border sticker, and split it in half... 

...to make edging detail, giving the effect of a jacket/blouse...

...before adding little black flower stickers.

One of my Bingo squares was a FREE, so I chose to use Bows with Pins (I know that's technically 2 extras, but the ribbon didn't want to stick to the shimmer)

I Like Traffic Lights....

This week The Game Challenge is 1, 2, 3....Redlight!(or as I know it Traffic Lights)

We have been asked to make an ATC(s) using the colours Red/Green/Amber.

When I read 1...2...3..I thought it was going to be the rhyme about catching fish, and it so happened that Collage Obsession are asking for items incorporating fish :D So I downloaded their free images and used them for my ATCs.

I have some clear plastic ATC blanks...

I added red/yellow/green inktense colour to the b/w image of an angler...

Used TH distress inks Firebrick red/Mustard seed/Peeled paint to colour a piece of backing paper...

and built up the layers on the reverse of the ATC blanks(starting with fish)

The numbers I had already stamped onto tracing paper for another project.

The images are still a bit cloudy as the glue layers are still drying. 

I am also linking these ATCs to Anything Goes Challenge #72 Let's not be Square(cos they have rounded corners lol)
