A play on words...

My September page for Darcy's Altered Calendar Challenge

 ...and this is how it began....

 The part of the image I kept visible is Jon's luscious locks :D

 I added lines to the background with the edge of a credit card (part of the challenge)

 I wanted to do an "autumnal" page, so stamped, coloured and cut out some of Darcy's leaves...

 The hand needed to be reaching for something, so I painted on a ripe juicy apple.

 I used the credit card again to add lines to her dress design.

 Now the tricky part...randomly select 10 words to add as a sentence to the page.

I flicked through a book and circled the words I jabbed with a pencil lol

 and got this interesting selection

 My sentence reads ...

Sparkle "Dear Caroline"

Muslin light delight,

life slammed her door.

Darcy actually meant you could add other words but I didn't read that bit lol

 My Poe quote is an abridged line from "Alone"

In a haze of angelic music...

August's page for Darcy's Altered Calendar Challenge

 The original image was a black and white photo of Jimmi Hendrix...

 While reading through for a "Poe" quote to use, I came across a poem called "Israfel", about an angel who sings and plays a lute....

 and I knew it was perfect for Hendix.

 First part of the challenge is to leave some of the original image visible...

 Secondly, we were to stamp using found objects...

 *technically I do this every page as I use a chopstick to stamp my lines*

 The "add" item this month is a silhouette...

so I dug out these stamps from Joanna Sheen

 They are quite tiny, but I like that they are "shushing" each other, so as to listen to the angelic sound of Israfel playing his lute...

July page for Darcy's 2015 Altered Calendar challenge :D

 Use "bumped stencil" technique and add your own face...

This month I had chosen to use the Bruce Springsteen page of my calendar...and promptly forgot to take a photo of the original...

He was wearing a bandanna, which is a habit I share(as well as the curly hair) AND

I also have a denim waistcoat lol so it was easy which bits of the original page to leave visible.

 I found an old photo from my youth and did a quick likeness in place of the Boss, as well as adding a few curves to his waistline lol.

 Now to try out the "bumped" stencilling technique.

This is where you stencil in a dark colour...

 move the stencil over slightly, then cover with a lighter colour.

I used a set of stencils by Artistcellar from Tam's Whimsy series.

 This technique gives a wonderfully simple 3D effect to your page...

 A quick bit of defining with a black posca pen...

and Bobs your Auntie :D

The Poe quote reads...

June in Bloom

June's page for Darcy's Calendar Challenge 2015

 This month I started with Brian Addams ...

 and decided he should be a garden spirit...

 which meant replacing his guitar with a watering can :D

 Added random blocks of colour to the background giving it the feel of a blooming flower bed...

The art challenge part this month was to use glue/paint skins, you know the dried up bits of paint you peel off a palate...

so I smooshed some acrylic paint onto an acetate sheet and left it over night to dry.

 Once dry, I peeled the whole piece off and used an old metal cookie cutter to chop out some "rounds" for flowers, while tearing off bits of green for leaves.

 I used some of Darcy's leaf stamps to add definition to Brian's hair.

 I didn't have any ticket stubs for the second required element, but I did find a strip of tickets with insects on in my stash (Hunkidory paper kit) so I have used those instead :D

Drew in a little detail with Posca paint pens and stems with Darcys stamp...

 My greenman and me just chillin' in the garden...

Short and sweet because of all the posts this month.

My April page for Darcy's Calendar challenge 2015

It had to be Meat Loaf!!! It is our anniversary month, and Meat Loaf has written/sung some of the most beautiful love songs EVER! One of my most favourite tracks is "Martha" 

 ...makes me cry all the time lol

 This months challenges....Drips and splatters...

and write the same words as many times as you can :D

(Hubby wrote "I love you" 100 times in our first anniversary card)

 Couldn't resist this quote from Poe...

and painted Meat into a Faerie king pulling petals, eyes closed, praying for the last one to be "she loves me!"
