#179 SUMMER COLOURS

So many options for this challenge...

so I found it easiest to begin by selecting a few

patterned papers to create a "summery" landscape.

 Next, match up some Promarkers to colour my

image with.

 I wanted her to be "flying" through the scene so 

tore her out to soften the edges.

 The white looked a little stark against the summeriness...

 so I roughly coloured the edges with complimentary colours

 which I think gives a much "warmer" feel :D

A bit of subtle glitter and some meaningful words...

a very "smiley" card I think :D

A Doll is not just for Christmas...

over at Dream Valley Challenge

*using "Raggedy Anne and Andy dolls" from StarStampz*

I decided to use up another old canvas, 

which gave me a lovely dark base...

 roughed out with white gesso...

 Glued my hand coloured image into position

and pushed more gesso through stencils to add texture.

 Next a light wash of gesso over the whole piece

(avoiding coloured section)  to blend in edges.

 The members challenge at TTCRD this month is 

Tic/Tac/Toe, and I chose to use Red/Metallic/Green

 ...smooshed some red and green acrylic (being careful not to mix

as this would make a muddy mess) over the background,

before rubbing more white over the top.

 Now for the metallic.

Thick Gold embossing powder to form a frame...

 followed by watered down Bronze paint from Golden.

 Watering this paint down causes it to separate,

 leaving lovely verdi gris pools.

 I used the same Golden paint on chip board letters...

 and a little Verdi Gris embossing powder around the edges

to reinforce the

"left out in the rain" feel.

 as these little toys are clearly from Christmas's past.

*using Ppinky Dolls Art "I love Christmas"*

As this challenge will last into the New Year, I decided to make

a project using images from all 3 sponsors and post them 

throughout December.

First up is this lovely image from Ppinky Dolls Art.

It reminded me of those wooden panels we used to get back in the 70/80's 

with big eyed children, so it just had to go on a mini canvas.

Recycling an old canvas means you start with lots of yummy texture...

 I coloured with my Promarkers to get that retro 70's feel.

 A liberal coat of white gesso for the canvas before

gluing the image to the surface...

 then added cerulean blue and white acrylic

 to show up the texture again and blend in the image. 

 "Tea Varnish" over the entire piece gives it an aged grungy look...

 and not forgetting the sides for added interest.

  just love how the varnish pools in the textured 

background :D

How cute is this little image "Fireflies"?

To keep myself to the challenge rules I started by 

gathering my Promarkers 

Cool grey 1-5, Black and Tulip yellow.

After colouring I matted on black card...

and added glaze to her eyes and the flies.

Once the glaze was dry I added glitter glue around the flies,

before mounting onto a stamped base card.

My son is into manga/anime art and when I showed him he said

"She looks so sad"

so I thought she would make a pretty get well card :D

For those who follow by blog you will know I have just written the final episode of 

Abigail's story in the "Moon Daisies" saga...

This is the book I have written it out in.

 see... :D

 I decided this book needed a more interesting cover

*beautiful though it was*

I already had this image "Goth Girl"

printed out on watercolour paper. I hadn't used her as she had blurred,

but her "faded" appearance seemed appropriate for the task in hand.

 I added a metal watch brad

and stuck her onto black gloss card.

it looked a little stark against the soft faded florals...

so I added another layer first,soft grey patterned paper from 

my Anna Grffin Stash, 

making sure all edges were scuffed and grunged.

 The mottoes are from a Hot off the Press ephemera pad

"A brief and important period of time"

and

"A precise point in time"
