DREAM VALLEY CHALLENGE

# 182 All thing's Bright and Beautiful
there is no sponsor for this week so I am taking
the opportunity to share an image by the wonderful
LeighSBDesigns

 *using Whimsical Miss Oddleigh - Flower*
This is a set of 2 images, so I used the bunch of flowers
to create a garden for her to stand in...

found some papers I liked to create a colour palete

with my ProMarkers...

 and coloured the image.

 I wanted this card to be really bright and cheerful,
so covered the base entirely with this spotty paper...

 but that left her "floating".*and I had gotten a mucky
smudge on her cheek!!!*

 I didn't want too much layering as I was going to
add glitter to the spots, so I just added a strip
 down one side to "anchor" her :D,

and a strategically placed flower stamp repaired the

damage to her cheek.

 A suitable sentiment as a garden sign...

 and lots of glitter glue...

Miss Oddleigh will be sitting by my desk 

to remind me to keep the sparkle in my life :D

Bling's the Thing!

DIES TO DIE FOR

For this challenge the DT had free range to use any

image they wanted...so I chose one of my all time

favourite rubber stamps.

I had been trawling craft channels, and caught a demo on

 "Hochanda TV" and the lady said she was pleased to let

people copy her demo as that was what they were all about.

(Very rudely I did not catch her name or remember the company

she was demoing for)

The base for the "topper" is a piece of patterned paper

with a gesso wash and slightly distressed,

onto which I stamped and heat embossed my image.

I wasn't too bothered about it being a perfect stamp as 

I think it adds to the "distressed" look.

I then used watercolour pencils and 

a water brush to colour the image, using the 

stamp block as inspiration.

(yes it is a huge wooden block stamp that cost me £15

way back when lol)

Next a little "overstamping" to add more

detail to the backgound.

For the base card the lady created her own scene

using co-ordinating cad stock and more stamping.

Then I started thinking about the "bling" aspect of the challenge...

firstly adding holographic embossing powder to the 

background, and faux pearls to the flowers.

I then mounted on "pearlescent" cardstock...

you can see here how shimmery it is getting :)

Because the sponsor is a Die company I thought it

only right that some die cutting be involved. This Die 

from Tattered Lace mirrored the image nicely, so

I cut it from glitter card.

The base card looked a bit flat now, so I used

 Stardust Stickles on the tiny butterflies...

before making a paper flower with a huge faux gem 

as a centre :D

a few close-ups o the detail...

I don't use bling very often, but I hope this project

has given you plenty of options lol

Time for a new challenge over at

#180 For a Boy or a Man

 and this fabulous image "High Stakes" was just

perfect for Hubby's Birthday card this week :D

 I gathered some neutral coloured papers...

 and made my base card ready to take the 

image when coloured, knowing I can match

any papers using my trusty ProMarkers.

Hubby wears a cap all the time, so while colouring

I accidentally started colouring his head as a hat lol.

And this is the beauty of using digi stamps...

 I simply cut out and coloured a new head to glue

over the top :D (I always print more than one of each

image I'm using just in case)

 The phrase I typed out and printed using Craft Artist,

and added a little sparkle with Stickles.

Lets face it, choosing your "life partner" 

is a risky business, but I took a gamble.

No one thought we would last a month...

but 36 years later we are still happy we

took that risk :D

So many options for this challenge...

so I found it easiest to begin by selecting a few

patterned papers to create a "summery" landscape.

 Next, match up some Promarkers to colour my

image with.

 I wanted her to be "flying" through the scene so 

tore her out to soften the edges.

 The white looked a little stark against the summeriness...

 so I roughly coloured the edges with complimentary colours

 which I think gives a much "warmer" feel :D

A bit of subtle glitter and some meaningful words...

a very "smiley" card I think :D

Ok...so I got busy in the greenhouse and forgot to
take "in progress" shots again....
Simple matting and layering using a gorgeous
"summery" backing card from my
Crafter's Companion "Fairyopolis" stash,
old glitter card stock and a pre-printed base card.
I coloured with my fav ProMarkers, matching shades
from the card stock...
and tore the image out to soften the "white" edges.
Balanced the white with satin ribbon, overlayed with
organza ribbon and trimmed with white lace.
The sentiment is stamped directly onto the background.

I wanted to make a floral embossed background 

for this image, but didn't want it to be just one colour.

I chose a striped paper and put that through the folder

and love the extra dimension it creates.

Next I matched up my Promarkers to the colours

in the papers...

and ,as well as the image, I coloured some tiny

buttons...

to use as flower centres :D

I added glossy accents to the buttons on the

image for even more detail.

To me nothing says Spring like green grass and blue sky,

with a dash of Daffodil yellow :D

 I collected a selection of papers and peel offs

with the intention of using the peel offs to make

 an arty background...

but my craft room is moving so most of my stuff is boxed up :/

 Fortunately I could still get to my paper stash,

which meant I could create a scene for my image to stand in.
(Sky and real grass from Kanban)

 When fussy cutting I don't worry about land locked pieces...

I just colour them to blend in with what's behind them

(one of the many reasons I enjoy using my Promarkers)

 I also use them to match my peel off sentiments

to my projects...
