A Good Heart.

EDIT: 18.35 26th June 2017
The winner drawn to receive ROSA is

Today is the start of

courtesy of Emma and Magaly
a small celebration to honour  "... all the so called monsters
and aberrations who are often kinder than the humans in the
stories they bring to life"

"Rosa" the doll that got left behind

The Wolf's Heart

When the Moon is full and overhead
Smart children hide beneath their bed.
The hearts of Mothers fill with dread,
lest the morning shines on newly dead.

For while the Menfolk drink their ale
the Moon, like Death, gleams cold and pale.
A lonely child eats bread that's stale,
And the Werewolves wander in the Dale.

Sometimes *though it is very sad*
They come upon a lass or lad,
Who's circumstances seem so bad
that even for the company of Wolves they are glad.

Whatever happened that cold night
They left no sign of terrified flight.
A flurry of snow, the only sight
that hinted at the poor child's plight.

Now the She-wolf sits to stitch and sew,
And watches as the children grow.
Her "Mother's Heart" is all aglow
...She would never leave a child to die in the snow.
...

So Rosa needs a new home.
She has been stuck here with me ...
waiting ...
for over a year, and this seemed like the perfect
opportunity to put her up for adoption.

If you can find a place in your heart(and home) for little Rosa
just leave a comment  and I will randomly select a winner on the 26th :D

  1. The Wolf's Heart is an awesome tale, great literal work Gina. I am the she wolf when it comes to my four pups, the world can be unkind and we must bear our teeth to let the world know we are a force to be reckoned with. Rosa can join my homestead if she likes.

  4. She has my beautifully-freakish-long arms! and I love her. And you know how I love your poetry, especially when you go all eerie and dark. This one should be read by a fire, next to the forest, while snow is threatening the nerves.

    Love it!

  15. I and the she wolf wolf are one, while I rather be siping ale (or slurping Shiraz through a straw) in front of a fire on a frosty night, my heart was with the lonely child Rosa, a mother be her wolf or human does not leave her babe to the cold night and if this stray ever comes to Oz she will be warm, and have someone to care for her, tucked in bed with a kiss. Wonderful post Gina (and that's not the Shiraz talking) ;)
