Revisiting the Darkness.

Way back in June 2012 I decorated a journal and wrote a poem in it.
I was reminded of it by this weeks theme at

the journal now lives with Magic Love Crow,
but I'm sure she won't mind you joining us for a return visit :D

Dark Love.
As he watched, soul obsessed
A silken tress her breast caressed.
The Woodland Nymph did slyly smile.
She would this human beast beguile.

In sleepless dreams he plans her fate.
Her beauty so intoxicates.
Amidst the trees he'll bide his time
And contemplate his evil crime.

As sweet as sparkling morning dew
Her venom slowly drips.
Her fragrance dancing on the breeze
to his ever hungry lips.

His dark desire he's holding back,
His pain beyond compare,
As his muscles start to twitch.
Yet must he stand and stare.

"I dare you" softly spoke her eyes.
Softer smile her strength belies.
Her sultry gaze reflects his fire,
Invites him to his funeral pyre.

The gauntlet thrown, the challenge taken.
His human guise she has mistaken.
No mere mortal beast she's taken in,
But flash of fangs in Daemon's grin.

Too late for flight, she stands her ground,
still smiling as she turns around.
Quick as a flash her hordes descend.
The Queen their duty to defend.

With passion drawn from darkest soul
he battles to her side...
and with the raising of her hand
the Legions now subside.

United now in passion's rage
they feed upon their lust.
Full knowing when the Sun comes up,
They both return to dust.

Dark Love, Finale...

Decided to put the last 4 pages up together, as you all know how the images progress by now :D

"Too late for flight, she stands her ground.
Still smiling as she turns around.
Quick as a flash her hordes descend.
The Queen their duty to defend.
With passion drawn from darkest soul
He battles to her side...

And with the raising of her hand
The legions now subside.
United now in passion's rage
They feed upon their lust.
Full knowing when the sun comes up,
They both return to dust."

I "doodled a carved heart on the opening pages, so I wanted to do something similar on the closing page.

D and N...daemon and nymph :D
Don't you love the way that crow just appeared?
Hope you've enjoyed my little exercise ...the poem would probably have been longer, but I ran out of pages. Verse per page next time I think.
The middle page I am linking to Ayala Art's June Guys challenge :D XXX

Dark Love...part 6

Spread # 6 of my Octagonal Poem Journal, which I keep forgetting to link to Journal Journeys Challenge 9: Torn Paper. All the drawings in this journal are torn and distressed desk diary pages :D

You may have noticed that the protagonists in my poem are becoming more "real" as the journal advances, this is deliberate on my part, as I want to illustrate how we become more aware of them as we get more emotionally involved in their plight :) (well that's how I think about it :D)

Pencil

ink

The pupils bring the face to life

Soft coloured pencil

blended slightly with water

Blended and softened with distress inks

" I dare you" softly spoke her eyes.
Softer smile her strength belies.
Her sultry gaze reflects his fire,
Invites him to his funeral pyre"

Dark Love...part 5

Spread #5 of my Octagonal Journal

I draw my images in permanent ink fine liner, then add colour quite roughly with water soluble pencils
The red eyes are permanent ink too....

Then I blend using Tim Holtz distress inks(applied with shaving brushes and sponges). TH inks are water based so activate the pencils :D

...and now the verse...

"His dark desire he's holding back.
His pain beyond compare,
As his muscles start to twitch.
Yet must he stand and stare."

Dark Love...part 4

Spread #04 of my Octagonal Journal
Inspired by Jay's Fantasy Faeries
Our nymph at her morning ablutions :D

"As sweet as sparkling morning dew

Her venom slowly drips.

Her fragrance dancing on the breeze

to his ever hungry lips."
I used sakura sparkle on the dragonfly wings...and she has a sparkly butt too :D

Don't know how long this poem is going to be, as I'm making it up as I go along.

He plans her fate.

Her beauty so intoxicates.

Amidst the trees

He'll bide his time,
