Back to the very beginning...

Gosh...it has literally been months since I 

have done a DT post for 

CRAFTING WITH FRIENDS
challenge #76 JFF

and as there is no sponsor I am free to play :D

I decided, as it will be my last post for CWF,

it would be nice to re visit the sponsor of my very

first CWF dt challenge

KJ ARTING

(Sleeping Beauty)

I started by printing the image onto vellum(tissue would have been better
but I couldn't find it)

 I prepped my journal page by spritzing paint, then gluing
the image over the top.
Once dry I added white gesso to the "skin" areas.

 Addd skintones with acrylic paint
and colour washes with Zig watersoluble pens.

 Time for a few doodles and darkening around
the edges to focus the image.

 Highlighted with white poska pen,
stamped sentiment and lightbulb from
"Visible Image"
and washi word "Shine" I made myself
from used masking tape.

I am really enjoying getting back into art journalling.

It's great for "messy" art when time is short :)

I saw the photo inspiration Challenge # 137 over at

Inkspirational

and decided to create my own background again using

 assorted stamps and blue inks on marbled grey paper

 I am loving these "layering" stamps...

 Base card midnight blue with a silver mirri mat.

 Complimentary colours for the image using promarkers,

stamped sentiment, silver organza ribbon and sequin thread

to decorate. 

 And obviously....stickles to add a little sparkle :D

and that's where you will find me....

in the meadow*garden* smelling the roses .

A world full of Wonder and Mystery :D

Not so shabby..

Today's challenge from CWWC Challenge 

#146 "Shabby Chic"

There was a bit of a hiccup with the sponsor for this challenge

so I decided to revisit one of my fav images from previous challenges.

I chose to re-use  "No My Dolly"

from Lemon Shortbread

This style of creation gave me another opportunity to

create my own background card :D

Distress inks and overstamping...

and a bit of water spritzing...

makes for a wonderfully shabby finish.

I matted this straight onto a white base card.

Next I "scruffed up" some scraps of paper with matching ink

to use for layering...

before colouring my image.

Added ephemera from an old

Hot off the Press paper pad.

*Ribbon and pearls are a must to add chic to my shabby*

How cute is this little image "Fireflies"?

To keep myself to the challenge rules I started by 

gathering my Promarkers 

Cool grey 1-5, Black and Tulip yellow.

After colouring I matted on black card...

and added glaze to her eyes and the flies.

Once the glaze was dry I added glitter glue around the flies,

before mounting onto a stamped base card.

My son is into manga/anime art and when I showed him he said

"She looks so sad"

so I thought she would make a pretty get well card :D

Keep it simple...

 CWWC Challenge

CLEAN AND SIMPLE

I still struggle with this concept for card making.

Being into mixed media and doll making I am all

about the "detail", finding something new each time I

look at a piece.

With C & S it seems to be more about the immediate impact.

 I chose to use a slightly textured card stock
and added a faded green patterned paper
(Crafter's Companion Beatrix Potter cd)

 I made an embossed frame from the same
 white textured card as the base...

then used Bundled Sage DI and Pastel Beige Promarker to
add a little colour.

I coloured the man image and cut her out before 

gluing her onto the background...

Then it was just a matter of adding the frame
(on thin foam pads)
a bit of ribbon and a sentiment :D

...and that's about as C & S as I can manage lol

I was given the image 

"Evath"

and I didn't want to overpower her simple beauty

 so I selected  soft muted pinks and browns for her,

 including washy tapes to make subtle borders.

 Just for a change I cut an aperture into the base paper,

inked edges with TH Distress ink Victorian Velvet

and set the image behind it.

 I roughly coloured the base image with my promarkers

 as I was going to decoupage another layer

 *why waste ink*

I made a raised border/ribbon strip using

washy tape over a strip of paper,

and added strips of ribbon leaves and lace.

 I then made her a layered flower for her hair

from plain white paper flowers, coloured with 

inks and promarkers.

Finally some teeny tiny pearl drops for added 

texture, and the"I am Proud of you"

 sentiment from my Anna Griffin stash

and here is my creation :D

 The perfect opportunity to use these wicked 

stamps from Hunkydory

Woodland Wildlife

 I started by making a rough background 

using distress inks and a make-up sponge.

 then cutting out a "tree" outline with my 

X-cut Spooky Graveyard die

 I wanted a bit of perspective, so I stamped 

a row of distant trees and then one a little closer

 much better :D

 I decided I wanted to tear the edges of the black card. 

This would mean a white border showing on the base card.

I didn't want a white border, so I edged

 the card with a coordinating marker pen.

 The black card is from my Core'dination stash.

That means it can be sanded back to reveal another colour

and adds instant texture to the "wood".

 Now for the animals...

 Simply stamped and coloured with Chameleon markers

*you don't have to blend they are still markers*
