World Doll Day!!!!

EDIT 17th June,Draw closed:
Winner Magaly Guerrero

I didn't know it until yesterday, but the second Saturday in June is apparently designated
 World Doll Day
How cool is that?
Thank you to A Magical Whimsy for alerting us..and my dear friend Debi for pointing me in her direction.
I don't know the proper protocol of the celebration...and you know I have probably made and given away enough dolls last year to cover me for the rest of my life lol.
I will however share a few pics(nothing like all)
and give thanks for the ability to bring a smile to distant friends with my creations.
 Hortense/Krampus/Violet
Her Maj/ Horatio...

 Molly Mop...

 Batty Girl...

Epiphany...

Lenny...

Steampunk FaeryGodmother...

Maeve...

Guardian Angel...

Fae...
Grief that was difficult....choosing to share just a few feels so wrong.
So to make me feel better, I will make a doll for one person leaving a comment on this post.
I will write down all names and "lucky dip" a winner(even if they already have one of my dolls).
It will be a smallish one as I have a few projects I am already working on and don't want you to be waiting ages.
I will make the draw on Wednesday 17th June 2015 and contact the winner myself.
Hope you already have a doll to share your world, their love is unconditional.
Enjoy :D XXX

Sharing my thought process...

Inspired by something created by you....
well this was the hardest one yet lol
I have made so many things...from cards to gardens to children...how could I choose just one to write about?
So a bit photo heavy, but I thought I'd share a little of how my mind works as my hands create :D

The Art of Creation.

I made this, and I made this
And then made this for you.

Then I made this, and I made this
And then another two...

I made this , and I made this
And then I made a third.

I made this, and I made this
And....Ooooow...
a little Bird!!!

Yes folks...I have no secrets...my brain and hands just run riot and make "stuff".
And as for writing....well I had written and scheduled the first 5 posts for this project on the first day...I guess I just have an over-active imagination lol
Enjoy :D XXX

Busy busy busy...

Decided last week I HAD to finish my 2014 PIF list before the end of January.
I still had 3 of the original 5 to do(because I is easily distracted by others and these 3 were polite and patient)
So here is pretty Petal the purple Pixie...
(her pendant is a hand painted abstract flower meadow)
She will be going to live with a friend in the UK.
Next I wanted to make something with the "felted panel" I made earlier this year(cripes is it still January???)
So the gift I am sending to North Carolina is a bag..made from scratch! made up as I went along...even though I have books telling me how to do it properly* I'm sure the lady recieving it will forgive the odd wonky stitch, still getting used to using my machine :D

(Haven't decided what the final recipient will be receiving yet)
So while I'm "thinking" I need a distraction

It is free to join and easy to follow 1 item and 1 inspirational quote per page (so far lol)
The hardest part so far was choosing a journal to work in!!

I settled on this one. Board cover already pretty cool, and it was attached by a ribbon so I could remove it before starting to get messy..(Is missing my messy!!!)
I am writing the quotes and prompts on the inside cover too
I am not going to bombard you with "step by step" images as I'll be doing a page a week as well as other stuffs, and you can ask if you want to know how :D I will just post the finished page and the original quote(which I am not using on my pages, just being inspired by)

Page 01 "Be your own Goal Keeper"
Page 02 "The beginning is always today.." Mary Shelley
Page 03 "I found I could say things with colour and shapes that I couldn't say any other way" Georgia O'Keeffe
There was another prompt with each page , but you should pop over to the original blog to check that out
*Now...what to make for someone who already makes everything* .....ooow...I know :D

Yule be sorry!!!

Oh My!!!
Look what the Yule Lord left for Hortense last night!!
Yes it is a real tree...decorated only with a hint of sparkling frost. Just the perfect  size for Hortense's home.
(living tree in pot from Tesco £3)
Hortense is thrilled, and has promised to plant it outside in the Spring.

Fay on the other hand is not quite so thrilled with her day...
Hortense decided she should be dressed as an Angel for the party...
"Angels and Faeries are TOTALLY different creatures!" protested Fay.
"Well tough!" replied Hortense, "You have wings don't you? It only makes sense that you be an Angel!"
" And look....I have added sparkling stars to your wings and Halo... it will look like you are up in the clear moonlight sky."

Fay is not amused....she may be dressed like an Angel, but that is no guarantee that she will behave like one.
In fact, she is pretty sure she could bring some kind of law suit against Hortense for cultural stereotyping or such.

In the meantime, she is planning on staying high up above the roof in the hopes that the Yule Lord doesn't notice her...he is rather prone to lose his temper when his subjects are disrespected.
And though she is annoyed with Hortense, she wouldn't want to see her harmed. Maybe a quiet word with Horatio is needed....

Past and Present...

So looking forward to meeting up with crafty friends Darcy and Clare next week!!!
...and no meeting is proper without pressies.
We try to give each other things that are a bit outside the norm, so just had to make them each a knitted doll...
 Darcy loves Red...
 and has funky hair...
 whereas Clare loves Steampunk...
 and SciFi ...
I still have a few finishing touches to add...
but am loving the different personalities they have...
just like the real thing lol :D

You guys have been so busy!!!

Gosh I had forgotten how hectic life gets with people coming and going randomly all day. Doesn't leave much time for crafting and art.
This little lady arrived safely at her new home with Linda, and she is now named "Gia" :D
and this is the gorgeous faerie cottage that Linda made for me as a return gift! It arrived this morning and I am still smiling like a loon :D
Bailey has been missing his boy, and fell asleep hugging his leg last night bless him.
Looking forward to meeting up with friends in October, and making more faeries to gift them...(but shhhh...it's a surprise)
Mostly last week I was busy preparing items to be displayed at the church I was baptised in. They were holding a remembrance for the centenary of the Great War and asked for any items we had to share. I took my Grandad's  photo taken in 1914, along with his medals and military service records.
The ladies and gent's of St Leonard's church Dinnington, along with those at the Lyric Theatre and the British legion did a wonderful job honouring our ancestors. Wish I could have stayed for the service at the cenotaph, but we left some flowers instead.
(same name as my grandad (Harry Brown),but it is his eldest son who died in WW2)
Will catch up with you all soon, promise !
Enjoy :D XXX

Woodland Faerie...going home

A lady called Linda left a lovely comment on my last post asking where she could buy one of my knitted faeries......:D
You all know I don't sell...they are gift's who choose their own home.
So I checked out Linda's blog...
not only does she appear to share my love of nature, but she also makes cottages for Faeries!
(hope she doesn't mind me showing you this pic...too lovely not to share)

Well that just about clinched it really...of course a faerie would want to go live with her...
so her she is :D
(I have not named her, Linda can have that honour)

After looking at Linda's blog and all the gorgeous blooms she has in her garden, I couldn't resist using vibrant happy colours.
Linda had asked for a "Woodland" type faerie, so her skirt is made from leaves...
and lovely Linda has fluffy friends, which allowed me to add a layer of "foofiness"
"Foofy" hair adds balance to this autumnal little lady...
and when it comes to wings, it makes sense that small sturdy wings are better suited to flitting through twiggy branches and bramble patches
Having no name made her a little shy, but Roc held her hand for a while,
and she soon gained confidence :D
Hope you like her Linda, can't wait to find out what her name is :D
I will parcel her up tomorrow ready to mail on Saturday.
Enjoy :D XXX
