Smelling the rot...

Tis that time of year again...
The theme for Magaly's
 Witches in Fiction 2016

Magaly has been a tad unwell, and I know how much she loves Moon Dasies...
so I have decided to continue telling the story of
Mavis, Abigail and Stewie's adventure in a very rotten garden...
*if your new to the story you can read the previous instalments here

Moon Daisies pt 7: STEWIE'S SURVIVAL TIPS

"I have to say I'm most impressed with your speedy recovery Mavis" said Stewie as they crept along the veranda at the front of the old creepy house.

"Thank you" replied Mavis, "You're not doing so bad yourself."

Abigail eyed the pair suspiciously, waiting for Stewie to bite at the obvious sarcasm in Mavis' comment.

"Fair play to you Mavis... but I am being quite serious. I can honestly say I wasn't expecting such a positive outcome after discovering you had eaten all those Daisies. I am pretty sure their vicious toxicity would have killed most creatures."

"Most creatures don't have the determined digestive system of a Sheep." was Mavis' aloof response, and Abigail thought it best to change the subject.

"Your Butterfly Wings are a particularly lovely side- effect, and so useful."

"Yes they are pretty awesome aren't they?"

"Not sure that they go with the fangs though." chipped in Stewie.

"Back to the job in hand I think." said Abigail, as they had reached the gap where the balustrade was broken.

"So... the plan is to wait for the sun to come up...then run down the gravel path to the road as quicky as possible..." said Stewie. "The whole point of gravel paths is to stop the weeds coming up, so we should be safe enough."

"Why wait for the sun?" queried Mavis.

"Why not? Do you have a problem with the sunlight?" jibed Stewie.

"Noooooo....just in a hurry to leave this place!" replied Mavis.

"She does have a point Stewie." Abigail joined in, " Why wait?"

"Because..." said Stewie, "...we can't see if anything is trying to trip us up in the dark...that's how hunters get you... setting traps in the dark patches. Trust me... I'm a prey animal...this is Kindergarten stuff!"

"Sounds reasonable." said Abigail.

"Fine by me then." said Mavis, and all three peered out across the lawn, watching for the slightest movement in the shadowy darkness.

Mavis' senses were still a lot sharper than they had been before her "conversion", and she was again hearing something strange.

"Now I don't want any flippant remarks..." she said, looking pointedly at Stewie, " but can anyone else hear ringing? Like teeny tiny bells?"

Abigail and Stewie strained to listen....

"Ummm....yes actually." replied Stewie.

"Me too" said Abigail..."teeny tiny tinkling bells...coming from the tree line I think."

"And is it just me....or are they playing a tune?" asked Mavis.

"Again... I would have to agree." Said Stewie...

"Show Me the Way to go Home ???" all three said simultaneously.

"Now we just have to decide whether they are being helpful or sarcastic" commented Stewie.

I feel there may be another instalment shortly...

Where does the time go???

It is nearly April for goodness sake!!!
 Time for Eastery goodies...
and new curtains in the Kitchen...
and spring cleaning in the garden.
 Laying paths over muddy patches...
 and cleaning windows lol
Well the front garden is tidier, but now need to build a raised bed where we pinched the slabs from :D

The pond is overflowing with frog spawn...
Pirate Bob has moved house...
and a very sparkly Unicorn is waiting for his rainbow mane...
But it is nearly April...and time for Magaly to provide us with a month of prompts to work our magic from :D
See you soon :D XXX

Last minute rush!...Moi?

The last few months I have been a really poor "Quother", so I was determined to make something for this months Challenge For the Love of Poe.
No surprise I got side tracked and missed Valentines.
I had been given a Knitting & Crochet mag at christmas, but the colours in it were not really me. I was inspired however by a pattern for a couple of love birds included...
a change of yarn and a few tweaks to the design...
 and a Valentine with a difference :D
He is a bit of a cheeky chap...
but that belies his broken heart as he searches for a lost love...
Mayhaps he is the Raven that visited Mr Poe in his boudoir?
As to the creature that distracted me this month...
meet Mavis.
She is still feeling a little worse for wear...
but her daisies are blooming beautifully..mwahahaha.....
These two may be a little on the cute side for some,
but I would like to enter them in Forever Dark 2s February challenge

Enjoy :D XXX

Rekindling the Spark

OK...I is a BAAAAAD blogger.
January seems to have been a bit of a washout all round as far as art is concerned,
BUT
February is a time to see the light and start moving forward again...
SOOOOO......

Time to focus that internal energy onto the spark of creativity....
it's not that I haven't been creating...
 Sparkly purple Dragon
 Badass Bunny
Hexagon daisy blanket...
but all this crochet is no substitute for mental gymnastics, and my mind/muse is wandering in the direction of a derelict old house,

a lawn full of carnivorous daisies, a missing Mavis...
and a very inquisitive squirrel.

See you all soon...mwahahahaha....
Enjoy :D

And a new year has begun....

So off we trotted on a new adventure...

and came a cross a fantasically beautiful little church, St Peters at Clayworth Notts(my photo of which seems to have disappeared)
Inside were the most magical murals...
*I'll let my terrible photos speak for themselves*

Needless to say, I believe I have found my Muse...
Pheobe Anna embodies all that I love in arts and crafts.

I have of course also been crocheting , and junior now has a sparkly dragon :D
I have also begun the "build"...such a cool project. Can't wait to get the house to myself and start painting it :D
Hope your all jumping into the New year as you mean to go on...
be creative,
be healthy,
be Happy :D
and most off all...
Enjoy :D XXX

Are we there yet!

Well nearly lol
Managed to get my last 2 handmade gifts finished today.

My DILish loves the dolls I make, and asked if I could make one that looked like a dalmatian.
Well never been one to miss a challenge....
First I had to find some patterned fabric, but they were all too large a print, so I used a generic animal print stamp and made my own :D
Usually I know the character of my dolls as soon as I start making them, but this one was tricky to pin down.
Didn't even have an idea of how he would be dressed *though I knew he was a he*.
And what a cheeky rogue he turned out to be lol
Such a charmer, but more than a little restless...
he definitely has a "fairground worker" feel about him...all fun and frolics...
not a care in the world :D
Totally makes me think of a young David Essex.
His companion is a crochet chubby guinea pig ...so quiet and shy by comparison and headed to the same household :D
Hope your all sorted and finding time to relax before the festivities begin*I have already started eating my cake lol*

oooow.....it's a bit quiet round here....

(Edit: I am also crocheting a jumper)
Get's like that this time of year, too busy making stuff to chat :D
So what have I been up to?

Thrilled to say I won the local shop art comp with this mixed media piece...

got £60 in vouchers just in time for Black Friday 20% sale lol.

Bought another Debi Shore sewing project book, and made these sweet little
Yuletide Gnomes :D

Used my vouchers to buy more fabric...
Made a mini craft caddy for my niece's Christmas gift pile...
*the pins have now been replaced with buttons lol*

and bought MORE fabric to make a snuggle blanket for her baby sister...
it will be backed with fleece for extra cuddliness :D

Also, I have made my own seasonal cake...
more fruit than cake lol, and all soaked in crab apple brandy(and fed with a little whiskey and sherry)
Don't worry though, we follow a very strict "No alcohol before driving rule", so will be eaten with care :D (and creamy cheshire cheese)

Hope everyone of you is having fun with whatever projects you are busy with :D
