Can't believe I haven't blogged all week!!! Been so busy with with eldest moving out and into his first proper home(not uni based). He asked if I'd make a canvas for his new place, for him and his girlfriend. They wanted one in black and white(major trauma for me lol) to match their decor.
I like the piece to be "part" of the person /people it is made for. So as they were stopping with us the night before the move I got them to put their handprints on the prepped canvas.
I couldn't get to grips with just b/w and grey, so I slapped a bit of colour on for a base layer...
and then started building with the greys...
and using white with glazing fluid to blend the figures.
I added another layer of black around the edges...
and iridescent paint to the lighter areas of the background.
Shiny, with just a hint of the colours showing through.
Don't know if it's finished yet, but son likes it so far(pic a bit blurry because of bad light and shiny surface)
Enjoy :D XXX
Wow, I'm amazed at the change from the original color with the hand prints. Turned out fabulous, and I bet they loved it! hugs, Kimberly
ReplyDeleteI love the texture and the colors. I like the fact that it has a splash of colors, but the black and white still prevalent which makes your boy happy.
