My addition to this weeks A Dash of Sunny Prompt Night
DEATH OF A ROSE
Twinkle, twinkle little Rose
Your name lives on in many prose,
While in this world of dank decay
Your sparkle slowly fades away.
As petals fall and leaves are curled,
Onto the compost heap your hurled.
We prune your limbs and lop your head.
A sign that Summer too is dead.
I know...Summer is hardly showing her skirts here....but it amused me :D
Enjoy XXX
From bloom to compost... what a delight. Have I told you how much I love your style? Your lively (and deadly) sense of humor? Well, I do. Love it, that is.
ReplyDeleteAnd summer has been waving at us from behind the clouds. It's raining in NYC!
Oh Gina, this is such a wise and profound write. Beauty is indeed fleeting in the world and its present circumstances. Thank you so much for participating at Prompt Nights and for your constant love and support.
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
Sanaa
Smiling at the truth in your words. Laughing at the clever way you did it.
ReplyDeleteGreat words and beautiful photos! Bloom to compost! Excellent! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYes I see that all the time, the beauty only lasts a little while then we return the old blooms to fertilise and assist in the creation of a new bloom.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delight! The life of a rose so sweetly told :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cleverly told, the perfect way to share the circle of life xxx
ReplyDeletePoor little rose - she seems study but true - easily culled :-(
ReplyDeleteaw...that was very clever and exquisite..we also go in the same way. perhaps not as beautifully...
ReplyDeleteWe should remember that we too are like roses and make the most of our time to bloom as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun write, weaving seasons into your rhyme. Have a lovely Saturday Gina
ReplyDeletemuch love...
Poor Rosie! What a lovely idea to photograph her life!
ReplyDeleteLovely - nature in all its glory!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful at every stage, though – as your photos show.
ReplyDeleteVery fun presentation of the life of a rose--a fitting metaphor for our own lives. Victoria
