Verses 3 and 4 of "The Lady of Shalott"

This is the base sketch, covering aspects of the verses, which I then obliterated as before :D
"By the margin, willow veil'd,
Slid the heavy barges trail'd
By slow horses, and unhail'd
The shallop flitteth silken-sail'd
Skimming down to Camelot:
But who hath seen her wave her hand?
Or at the casement seen her stand?
Or is she known in all the land,
The Lady of Shalott?"
(Who hath seen her...)

"Only reapers, reaping early,
In among the bearded barley
Hear a song that echoes cheerly
From the river winding clearly;
Down to tower'd Camelot;
And by the moon the reapers weary,
Piling sheaves in uplands airy,
Listening, whisper, "Tis the fairy
The Lady of Shalott."
(Listening, whisper....)

Not very practised at male faces, but have to keep trying...and there is Sir Lancelot amongst others still to come :D
Enjoy :D XXX

  4. It's good to see your paintings, Gina. Lots to learn from your pics of paintings in different stages. The Lady of Shallot and the background looks great.

    1. Thank you for such a lovely compliment. I hoped sharing those memories would help people find their happy memories too. It is too easy these days to remain focussed on what took them from us, rather than why we loved them so much :D XXX
