Ruth

Face no.3 of my 29 Faces for May
RUTH
Inspired by the poem of the same name, by Thomas Hood
"She stood breast-high amid the corn,
Clasp'd by the golden light of morn,
Like the sweetheart of the sun,
Who many a glowing kiss had won.
On her cheek an autumn flush,
Deeply ripen'd; - such a blush
In the midst of brown was born,
Like red poppies grow with corn.
Round her eyes her tresses fell,
Which were blackest none could tell,
But long lashes veil'd a light,
That had else been all too bright.
And her hat, with shady brim,
Made her tressy forehead dim;
Thus she stood amid the stooks,
Praising God with sweetest look:?
Sure, I said, Heav'n did not mean,
When I reap thou shouldst but glean,
Lay thy sheaf adown and come,
Share my harvest and my home."
This was meant to be my image for Beltane, but I got distracted by life.
The page is titled "tRuth".

  2. OMG where are all those words coming from, I wished I c ould write a poem like that. I can't believe you already got number three done. She is giving it the shy look but how can you be shy standing naked between the corn and poppies?
