This week at The Butterfly Effect the theme is Books
I bought these blank board books ages ago to make into memory books...but got distracted by the mixed media community :D
So for this weeks challenge I thought I'd alter one to use as an art journal...
No subject in mind, I painted the cover with Deep Turquoise acrylic, and sponged over with Rose Madder.
A piece of white muslin, dipped in my painty water, and a seriously distressed book page form the next layer...
on which I circled some words that would set the tone for the art within: Ghost, wintertime, forgotten, black, shriek and belonged.
A few more pretty images I got from June Mac's Treasure bags, distressed...
and some metal charms
Can't wait to make some seriously heavy "dark love" art in this book.
Hmmm....might write and illustrate a poem???
Getting messy can be so inspirational :D
Enjoy :D XXX
Looks like fun Gina, a great way to alter the books and love the ringed words.

ReplyDeleteMmmmm, love the red sponging over the turquoise. Great textures, this is already promising to be a very cool book :o)
ReplyDeleteps why does Blogger warn me that your blog has an 'adult' content?!
This looks great! I love the shape. :) I'm looking forward to your dark art. :)
ReplyDeleteBecause I ticked the adult content box...sometimes I just say and illustrate my mind, which can be a little too raw for some people :D
