Been busy doing ANOTHER art work that I cant show yet(makes my head hurt lol), so I needed to make something just for me.
I realised I hadn't tried out the technique from One Little Book Club, where we had looked at Mary Beth's "Flavour for Mixed Media", and this is the piece I created.
"Handle with Care"
The book is about using different stuff to create texture in your work. I decided to work on foam board, so that it didn't get too heavy, and chose a photo I printed off years ago but never used.
I made some texture by pressing a bottle top into the foam base, then gesso and a piece of twine
Next I tore up some flowery backing paper...
and then dabbed paint on with a sponge (i like dabbing with sponge, I do it a lot)
I had already fancy cut the figures from the photo, so I glued it in position, before painting more detail over the top(see first pic), using the flowers on the background paper as inspiration.
So this is my "Piece a week" that I can share for now lol
Enjoy :D XXX
Even though you know me and snakes [!!], I love how this turned out! xo
ReplyDeleteI think Jeanette and I have the snake thing in common. Despite that, the piece is awesome - love the combination of pieces you used and the colours, textures - just gorgeous, Gina. xoDonna
ReplyDeleteOh that's fabulous, love how you've managed to use something you printed an age ago to create new!
ReplyDeleteLovely to watch the process of developing this gorgeous painting. I would never have thought of using foam board and the way you made texture by impressing is so unusual. Inspiring piece of art.
ReplyDeleteGina, this is very touching and beautiful! I understand about creating things, that you can't show yet! I just got Oma Linda's done and I will be creating something for Magaly's soon ;o)
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous piece of art.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great memory to make into a piece of art. :-) xx
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty awesome. I love the gentleness of the whole thing.
