My own words

I had thought that I'd shared many of my poems with you all on this blog, but I can't find them in past posts? I am now thinking I shared them on my other blog(which I deleted last year).
Prudence commented that she would like to read more of my words after the Vampire day soiree entry, so if you will indulge me, I will share :D

This is the book I made several years ago now, to store my writings in...
and this is the hand written verse I am going to share today...

HOPE OF SPRING

Cold and shivering,
the Sparrow huddles beneath soggy leaves.
The Robin, once brightly bouncing from tree to tree,
now pale and bedraggled.
Where now the shimmering, spiralling flocks of Starlings?
The small, brightly coloured birds that visit the garden now,
creep in silence amongst the "mushy mess" that was yesterday's bread.
Pigeons land like loutish thugs on the table,
scattering birds and seeds alike.
Only the cry of the big black Crow is heard amid the smothering darkness of Winter.
They all wait.
Some patiently, some not so.
With each new morning, listening carefully for the signal to come.
The bubbling, sparkling song of the Blackbird...
Bringing hope that Spring is near.

  1. That's me...pale and bedraggled! This is exactly what I am wondering! I'm getting tired of arguing with the crows! We all are getting rather hoarse!
I'm on the look out now! Blackbird where are YOU!
Thank you so much for sharing your poems and I hope I will be honored with more! xoDebi

  3. This is lovely! I feel awful for the birds though! Winter is nearly here and I am looking forward to an end of the humidity and being able to wear nice coats again! My little bird will be happy indoors, with his warmer cage cover and hugs from me and the warm dressing gown! :P

    1. I could have sworn that is where I tracked you down from. It was called "from the corner of my eye", and i used it to post the darker/creepier stuff that pretty card makers tend to shy away from :D

  8. Beautiful writing, Gina. Thanks so much for sharing. I love to read others pieces. LOVE the book you made. So much character! Nothing like a hand made book to keep your treasures. Having said that - have you heard of "BLURB" - an on line self publishing site. I have put my writing in a couple different books and ordered only one copy. Sort of neat. Take care. hugs, Donna
