past pleasures

Just a quick post as I haven't been in much this week, but I have seen this posted on a few friends blogs and thought it a lovely way to end my crafting year.
The Stamp Man team are asking us to share our favourite crafting creations of 2011 (doesn't have to be a stamping project...rules here)

I thought it would take me ages to trawl through my old posts and choose a piece I was particularly proud of, but it didn't....I went almost straight away to this page in my altered book(original post).

I painted it the week after the beautiful Katie Renz passed away after a long and public battle with cancer. I didn't mention this in my original post as I thought it might be upsetting for others who knew her. She was definitely on my mind as this portrait formed..and Katie is what I called her as I was painting. I only knew Katie via her blog, but knew her to be a wonderful caring person who will be much missed by those who were touched by her plight.
Thank you for the opportunity to share this piece again :D

Bless you all, and wishing only happiness in your lives for 2012

  2. your book is a lovely container of life, even if it is a life remembered, now past.
i think doing your portrait might have been a favorite day, and realising the salamanders choose to be with me,

Since then I have had ten times more internal peace

  4. I agree, this was a great piece, but I hadn't been here in awhile I guess because I missed the last few posts.... I love the painting over collage idea, I've seen a few people do it lately and I may have to try it too! Yours turned out great!
