She likes INSECTS
I had this canvas I'd made following a class by Tee Thompson
I like it...but it was lacking something :S
So I doodled a bit with a charcoal pencil...
blocked in with white gesso...
mixed a blue/black with acrylic to give definition...
coloured with blues and white...
building up a few layers...
And used a bit of black to add more definition, and white highlights on the eye lenses and tongues.:D
Still consider this a work in progress, wants "more" background.
Enjoy :D XXX
I love it as is...that red is really striking and your insects have character!

This is amazing! I really like the background you started with but this is freaking brilliant! :)
ReplyDeleteVery special :D, but great.
ReplyDeleteGina, this is amazing! I agree with Natasha, this is freaking brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I really like what you did with it.
ReplyDeleteThat painting is totally wicked! ManonX
ReplyDelete:) Freaking brilliant, and I love that you built it up around the flies. And I even love that they made me shudder just a bit. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, visions of Jeff Goldblum are now dancing in my head, this is creepy & bright, the juxtaposition of elements & emotions & colours (& predator & food) in this (it's true) 'freaking brilliant' work has resulted in a major totally satisfying visual experience for this visitor :) and it also REALLY appeals to my slightly twisted brain ;) I LOVE it!!
ReplyDeleteNow no one can't argue with me when I tell them that man modeled gas masks after bugs. Look at those eyes and those shapes.
ReplyDeleteI love their uncanniness. They leave asking myself if I should be enchanted or terrified and why not at the same time...
You've added such interest to this piece.....a mix of traditional and alien beauty on one cool canvas with awesome bright contrasting colors! It's great, Gina!
ReplyDeleteI like this nice and funny insect composition, excellent colors.
ReplyDeleteWOW Gina I love it!! Sooo stinkin cool :)))))
ReplyDeletereally, really love this one Gina!I think its my fave piece of yours.
ReplyDeleteoh wow - I love this so much. those blue ones simultaneously remind me old gas masks and of the water bottle that hangs in my son's rodent cage. it's gorgeous and I loved seeing the stages of it.
