We Luvzzzz Beezzzz...

This weeks theme at The Butterfly Effect was chosen by Guest artist Karen, aka Iamrushmore.
She likes INSECTS

I had this canvas I'd made following a class by Tee Thompson
I like it...but it was lacking something :S

So I doodled a bit with a charcoal pencil...

blocked in with white gesso...

mixed a blue/black with acrylic to give definition...

coloured with blues and white...

building up a few layers...
And used a bit of black to add more definition, and white highlights on the eye lenses and tongues.:D

Still consider this a work in progress, wants "more" background.
Enjoy :D XXX

  6. :) Freaking brilliant, and I love that you built it up around the flies. And I even love that they made me shudder just a bit. :)

  7. Oh, visions of Jeff Goldblum are now dancing in my head, this is creepy & bright, the juxtaposition of elements & emotions & colours (& predator & food) in this (it's true) 'freaking brilliant' work has resulted in a major totally satisfying visual experience for this visitor :) and it also REALLY appeals to my slightly twisted brain ;) I LOVE it!!

  8. Now no one can't argue with me when I tell them that man modeled gas masks after bugs. Look at those eyes and those shapes.

I love their uncanniness. They leave asking myself if I should be enchanted or terrified and why not at the same time...

  13. oh wow - I love this so much. those blue ones simultaneously remind me old gas masks and of the water bottle that hangs in my son's rodent cage. it's gorgeous and I loved seeing the stages of it.
